Have you ever heard of Paula Deen? Well if you have not, she is a cook who lives in Savannah,GA. She owns a restaurant there, “The Lady & Sons”. She is most famous for her Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. I was lucky enough to try her AMAZING DESSERT! If you have ever been, you know what I am talking about!
Before we left her restaurant, we bought one of her latest cookbooks “The Lady & Her Friends”. For some awesome reason, mine was personally signed by Paula Deen herself!
So, after Savannah we went down to Orlando, where we rented a townhouse. At the townhouse I made her famous butter cake, it was DELICIOUS! It had to be one of the best things I have ever baked. At the bottom of it is a yummy yellow cake. Then, the ooey gooey butter filling. Last but not least, the sweet and buttery crust on top. Everyone was asking for more cake!
So, here is her recipe…
CAKE
- 1 PACKAGE OF YELLOW CAKE MIX
- 1 EGG
- 1 STICK OF MELTED BUTTER
FILLING
- 1 8-OUNCE PACKAGE OF CREAM CHEESE
- 2 EGGS
- 1 STICK OF MELTED BUTTER
- 1 16-OUNCE BOX OF POWDERED SUGAR
- 1 TEASPOON OF VANILLA EXTRACT
- PREHEAT THE OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
- MIX THE YELLOW CAKE, YOU WANT YOUR CAKE TO BE MORE LIKE A DOUGH THAN A BATTER.
- THEN PAT INTO A LIGHTLY GREASED 9 X 13 INCH PAN.
- MAKE THE FILLING. START WITH THE CREAM CHEESE, WHIP IT UNTIL LIGHT AND FLUFFY.
- ADD IN EGGS AND VANILLA. MIX AGAIN.
- ADD BUTTER. CONTINUE TO MIX AND POUR POWDERED SUGAR IN LITTLE BY LITTLE WHILE STILL MIXING
POUR FILLING MIXTURE ON TOP OF CAKE BATTER, THEN PUT IN OVEN AND COOK FOR 40-50 MINUTES, (I PUT IT IN FOR 45).
WHEN IT COMES OUT, IT SHOULD BE LIGHTLY BROWNED, AND HAVE AND SLIGHTLY CRACKED BUTTERY CRUST ON TOP.
THERE YOU GO, YOU HAVE GOT YOURSELF THE BEST CAKE AROUND!
ALWAYS REMEMBER STOP.DROP.BAKE!
HAPPY BAKING!
LOVE, ZOE & KAILEY
